Job Purpose
Provide technical support to Major and Minor projects in the design of electrical power generation and distribution systems throughout all project phases until commissioning. Contribute to updating DGS specifications and conduct studies to safeguard the integrity, reliability, and availability of electrical assets across all company plants and electrical interfaces with other ADNOC Group Companies and external entities.
Key Accountabilities
Engineering Studies, Advice and Expertise
- Provide technical input to update company specifications, incorporating the latest industry trends and lessons learned.
- Support Projects Group with minor upgrade, revamping, and major projects; develop conceptual studies and prepare requirements for new projects.
- Assist during asset life extension assessments and support site teams during replacement of obsolete equipment with modern, proven solutions to minimize operational risks.
- Witness factory and site acceptance tests, pre-commissioning, and commissioning to ensure compliance with specifications and approved drawings.
- Contribute to updating Maintenance and Inspection Policies to meet international standards and vendor recommendations, ensuring equipment integrity and reliability.
- Conduct feasibility studies and review manufacturer proposals for modifications or upgrades to maintain high performance and reliability.
- Lead in-house studies to resolve maintenance and operational issues, providing technical resolutions and recommendations, and prepare FEED scope and requirements.
- Assess future power requirements to ensure they align with ongoing expansion and upgrades, avoiding risks to the existing power network.
- Prepare Electrical Technical Notes with recommendations for resolving design issues during project implementation and operation.
Job Specific Accountabilities
Communications & Working Relationships
Internal: Regular contact with Team Leaders, Department Managers, peer staff, and team members on policies, processes, HSE, and domain-specific issues.
External: Coordination with consultants, contractors, vendors, and other ADNOC entities for project interfaces and activities.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- At least 6 years of experience designing electrical power systems in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of HV, MV, and LV switchgears, motors, EX equipment, UPS, and transformers.
- Experience with power system studies for large-scale Oil and Gas projects.
- Familiarity with electrical engineering practices, calculations, and design details.
- Working knowledge of international electrical codes, standards, and specifications; design experience is preferred.
- Practice in medium and high voltage systems, protection relay settings, and manipulation.
- Awareness of ISO 9000 QMS and EMS requirements.
- Excellent planning, organizing, scheduling, and coordination skills.
