A leading company in the oil and gas sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in the maintenance and operation of rotating equipment. The role involves supervising maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and optimizing equipment reliability. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and a proven track record in engineering practices.
JOB PURPOSE
Provide technical expertise in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and shutdowns of rotating equipment to ensure high availability, reliability, and integrity for plant production.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Maintenance Planning, Execution, and Expertise
• Supervise installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and modification activities of rotating equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Review preventive maintenance plans and schedules; prepare task lists and maintenance programs; supervise their execution.
• Offer guidance on handling chronic issues; review major repair and spares replacement requirements to meet engineering standards.
• Participate in risk assessments; develop recommendations and guidelines for mitigations and controls.
• Ensure spare parts availability; coordinate new material orders; propose stock management strategies for new equipment and obsolete inventories.
• Develop new maintenance procedures and method statements; schedule long-term activities aligned with plant shutdowns.
• Coordinate maintenance activities across departments to optimize manpower and control shutdowns and expenditures.
• Support new project development, ensuring design compliance, cost optimization, and adherence to standards.
• Prepare and review plant change requests; plan and schedule their implementation.
• Participate in HAZOP and SIL validation meetings.
• Analyze frequent failure patterns of major rotating equipment; provide corrective recommendations.
• Conduct root cause analyses for incidents involving rotating equipment and recommend improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in engineering and maintenance of rotating equipment, preferably in oil and gas.
• Extensive knowledge of design, engineering, construction, maintenance, and operation of rotating equipment in the oil and gas sector.
• Familiarity with international design codes and standards; capable of preparing comprehensive specification packages.
• Experience with major equipment manufacturers and proven negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of HSE practices.
• Skills in planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating, and record-keeping.
