Job description

Job Purpose

The Staff Nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. They understand, support, and promote the mission, vision, and values of SSMC, providing age-appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body. The Staff Nurse adheres to and promotes the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.

Responsibilities

1. Assessment and Diagnosis: Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues, including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs. Uses evidence-based assessment techniques, validates diagnoses with patients and healthcare team, prioritizes data, documents findings.
2. Planning and Outcomes Identification: Sets expected outcomes, develops and modifies care plans involving patients and families, applies evidence-based practices, documents goals.
3. Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery: Implements care plans using evidence-based interventions, performs treatments, administers medications, documents care, communicates across care levels, demonstrates resource awareness.
4. Health Teaching and Promotion: Uses appropriate teaching strategies, supports self-management, seeks feedback, documents education provided.
5. Evaluation: Assesses progress, involves patients and teams, revises care plans as needed, ensures safety through handovers and updates.
6. Evidence-based Practice and Research: Incorporates current evidence, participates in research activities, shares findings, engages in quality improvement.
7. Leadership: Demonstrates professionalism, coordinates activities, shows critical thinking, seeks leadership roles, supervises staff, participates in decision-making.

Accountabilities

• Maintains professional and ethical standards, advocates for patients, questions practices, reports concerns, evaluates own practice, utilizes resources, promotes safety, and commits to ongoing learning.

Qualifications

Experience: Required: Minimum 2 years clinical experience post-qualification in an appropriate setting (waived for UAE nursing graduates after internship).
Educational Qualification: Bachelor degree in nursing or a 2-year nursing degree with registration as a Registered Nurse from specified countries, valid license, and BLS certification. Desired: ACLS, PALS relevant to specialty area.
