The Diagnostics Scientific Liaison is responsible for being an interlocutor in molecular diagnosis within the territory, providing healthcare professionals (HCPs) with information on molecular diagnosis and precision medicine in oncology, with the ultimate goal of ensuring optimal patient identification for targeted therapies offered by AstraZeneca.
What you'll do
Scientific Information Management and Building Opinion Leader Relationships
- Possess solid scientific knowledge in Oncology diagnostics and a drive to continually expand your expertise.
- Deep understanding of diagnostics science, including various techniques, platforms, and applications for patient identification.
- Engage regularly with Opinion Leaders and influence groups to build partnerships, share data, support requests, and provide technical support through publications, slide sets, round tables, and technical discussions.
- Respond to information requests about diagnostics and biomarkers testing, presenting objective, scientifically substantiated information free of promotional content.
- Address technical inquiries from HCPs regarding biomarkers, methodologies, testing processes, and result interpretation.
- Identify and collaborate with national and regional Opinion Leaders, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to promote biomarker testing adoption.
- Work with pathology, pulmonology, genetics, and molecular biology associations in scientific activities aligned with AZ strategies, including identifying speakers and early adopters, and providing recommendations for advisory boards.
Support Testing Access and Improve Testing Environment
- Contribute to the implementation of testing platforms and techniques in strategic markets to facilitate biomarker testing access.
- Organize and facilitate medical education events for HCPs to improve diagnostic practices.
- Understand the specific diagnostic environment, potential barriers, and commercial touchpoints in each market to propose effective, treatment-linked diagnostic solutions.
- Know the interconnected oncology ecosystem, including patient advocacy groups, KOLs, payers, and HCPs, and identify decision-makers influencing testing protocols.
- Develop educational materials on testing and ensure key messages reach the target audience.
- Engage external stakeholders with AZ's testing programs, emphasizing value propositions for targeted therapies.
- Define patient sample journeys and support patient pathway development, identifying gaps and proposing solutions.
Contribute to Brand and Diagnostic Strategy via Cross-Functional Support
- Provide insights into local diagnostic trends and competitor initiatives.
- Develop educational activities highlighting the relevance of biomarkers in patient management to prepare markets for new therapeutic areas or indications.
- Communicate findings, needs, barriers, and opportunities from HCPs to cross-functional teams.
- Implement local diagnostic activities as per account plans and flag gaps or the need for plan adjustments.
Facilitate Local Clinical Research (as appropriate)
- Participate in the development and conduction of local/regional studies on biomarkers testing.
- Assist with clinical trials, including scientific support, site selection, and feasibility assessments.
- Lead evidence generation on diagnostic biomarker prevalence.
- Ensure compliance with global policies, local laws, and regulations.
Reimbursement Pathway Development
- Design and execute strategies to establish reimbursement pathways for diagnostic tests, ensuring accessibility and affordability.
- Facilitate discussions with KOLs, RCMs, payers, and government bodies like DHA and DOH to implement reimbursement pathways.
- Understand payer systems and healthcare regulations.
- Demonstrate experience in establishing effective reimbursement pathways.
Essential for the role
External: At least 2 years of experience in Diagnostic and Clinical Testing Markets, preferably Oncology.
Internal: Oncology or Specialty experience.
For Both:
- University degree in Medical or Science fields.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- No restrictions on frequent travel.
- Ability to communicate scientific information effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Passion for customers.
- High motivation and intellectual curiosity.
- Understanding of the commercial environment.
Desirable:
- Strategic thinking, innovation, creativity.
- Masters in molecular biology or equivalent.
- Ability to influence others.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Training in therapeutic areas, product training, competitor analysis, product pipeline.
- Expertise in diagnostic/biomarker testing processes.
- Experience in budget management.
