Job Description
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for oil and gas projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company standards.
- Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and other documents to identify project requirements and potential cost implications.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather necessary information for comprehensive estimates.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about material costs, labor rates, and industry trends that impact project pricing.
- Develop and maintain estimation databases and templates for efficiency and consistency in future projects.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals, ensuring alignment with project scope and budgetary constraints.
- Assist in preparing bid submissions and presentations for potential clients, highlighting competitive advantages and value propositions.
- Participate in post-project evaluations to analyze discrepancies between estimated and actual costs, fostering continuous improvement.
- Support risk assessment processes by identifying and quantifying potential risks that could affect project costs.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior estimation engineers, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in estimation within the oil and gas sector, preferably with exposure to both onshore and offshore projects.
- Professional certifications in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of oil and gas industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Aspen, Primavera, or similar tools) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in calculations.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex information clearly to stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies in a fast-paced industry.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus, especially for international projects.
