What we need
Director, Innovation and New Technology will generate, propose, and follow through on innovative and new technology solutions to address business-critical issues as assigned by NOMAC. The aim is to improve efficiency, optimize costs, and enhance NOMAC's O&M competitiveness.
Strategy & Plans
- Lead, direct, and oversee various cross-functional innovation projects of different sizes and technologies.
- Monitor market trends and identify disruptions by attending seminars and technological events.
- Drive the innovation & new technology agenda, interpret NOMAC's O&M business strategy, and determine innovative technology solutions supporting this strategy.
- Coordinate with various functions and teams such as SVP, VPs, plant PGMs, SMEs, PAT, ACWA Power Innovation, BD & technology team, NOMAC BD, and other departments to understand challenges and focus areas for improvement through innovation.
- Work closely with the Purchasing Department, OEMs, service providers, and subcontractors to conduct demos and develop solution models.
- Perform due diligence visits to arrive at meaningful solutions for business-critical issues, providing comprehensive reports to management and stakeholders.
- Prepare a risk matrix for all solutions, present mitigation strategies, and action plans to management and relevant departments.
- Collaborate with Technical, Benchmarking, and Risk teams to highlight risks, opportunities, equipment partners, contractors, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Develop and present business cases for innovative technology solutions to management.
- Report regularly to supervisors on departmental activities, challenges, mitigation actions, and progress.
- Cultivate a dynamic innovation culture within NOMAC by creating an internal platform for sourcing ideas and rewarding innovations.
- Contribute to strategic direction through presentations on new technologies.
- Attend meetings globally, either in person or remotely, to understand O&M challenges requiring innovative solutions.
Budget Management
- Prepare and monitor the department's budget, ensuring financial performance aligns with plans and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Health, Safety, Security, and Environment
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and environmental responsibility.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to organizational change initiatives, considering best practices and standards.
Skills:
- Excellent techno-commercial, business, and analytical skills.
- Commercially astute with the ability to structure solutions effectively while minimizing risk.
- Attention to detail and professional inclusiveness.
- Strong relationship-building, presentation, and communication skills.
- Understanding of Project & Business Development in Power & Water sectors, including technical, legal, and financial aspects.
- Proactive, high-energy, capable of working under pressure and tight deadlines, even remotely or while traveling.
Who will fit
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Industrial, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
- 15+ years of experience, preferably in Power & Water sectors, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Extensive knowledge of the Power industry, including fossil fuels, renewables (solar PV, CSP, wind, storage), and Water Desalination (Sea Water RO).
