Job description

The Preparatory Year Program at BMC – Dubai is seeking a qualified and dynamic faculty member to teach English Language and Communication Skills. The successful candidate will help students develop the academic language proficiency, presentation skills, and professional communication abilities required for success in health and medical programs. The role supports institutional goals and complies with KHDA and QFEmirates standards.

Core Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning

• Deliver well-structured and engaging instruction in English Language courses and Study & Communication Skills.
  

• Facilitate student development in academic reading, writing, speaking, listening, and presentation skills relevant to health sciences.
  

• Ensure all courses meet KHDA and QFEmirates outcomes and academic integrity policies.
  

• Use interactive, student-centered methods to foster participation and learning.
  

Academic Support

• Provide academic advising and language support to students.
  

• Monitor academic performance and contribute to student success initiatives.
  

Curriculum & Quality Assurance

• Assist in curriculum development and updates for English and communication courses.
  

• Participate in quality assurance activities including self-assessments, course reports, and KHDA audits.
  

Professional Development & Scholarly Work

• Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) in ELT and higher education pedagogy.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics, English Language, TESOL, or a related field from a recognized, accredited university.
  

• A UAE MOE Equivalency Certificate is required or must be in process upon hiring.
  

• Minimum 3 years of higher education teaching experience, including English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP).
  

• TESOL / CELTA / TEFL certification is highly desirable.
  

• English proficiency: IELTS Band 8+ or equivalent, if the degree was not completed in English.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching in KHDA-regulated institutions or GCC higher education settings.
  

• Background in teaching communication skills for healthcare or professional contexts.
  

• Familiarity with educational technology tools (LMS, Turnitin, interactive whiteboards, etc.).
