Palazzo Versace Hotel is seeking an accomplished and knowledgeable Sommelier to elevate the beverage experience at La Vita Restaurant & Bar. This role is vital in providing exceptional wine service within a sophisticated and vibrant setting, renowned for its luxurious ambiance and innovative cocktail offerings. Key Responsibilities:
Wine Service and Pairing:
Deliver expert wine recommendations and pairings to guests, enhancing their dining experience and promoting La Vita’s curated wine selections.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the wine list, including exclusive boutique offerings available by the glass.
Wine Program Management:
Collaborate with the culinary team to design and update the wine list, ensuring it reflects current trends and complements the menu offerings.
Oversee inventory management for the wine cellar, including the ordering, receiving, and proper storage of all wine selections.
Guest Interaction:
Engage with guests to educate them about wines, providing tastings and insights that enhance their appreciation and enjoyment.
Proactively address guest inquiries and requests, ensuring a memorable experience at La Vita.
Staff Training and Development:
Conduct training sessions for staff on wine service standards, including tasting notes, proper serving techniques, and wine pairing principles.
Foster a culture of wine appreciation among team members, encouraging continuous learning and professional development.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and licensing regulations, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in wine storage and service areas.
Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests.
Promotional Activities:
Assist in the development and execution of wine-related promotions and events, contributing to the overall marketing strategy for La Vita.
Stay informed about industry trends and developments in wine to enhance the overall wine program.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a sommelier in a luxury hotel or high-end dining establishment.
Comprehensive knowledge of wines, including regions, varietals, and tasting notes.
WSET Level 2 certification is compulsory.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with guests and team members.
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and service quality.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
