Job description

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:

  • This role will primarily support projects with significant MEP components across various sectors.
  • To provide excellent service delivery to clients, gain their trust, and enhance our reputation.
  • To ensure that client objectives are met through the delivery of an effective cost management service from pre-contract to handover.

KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Detailed knowledge of and experience in Infrastructure or RE sector working for a professional cost consultancy.
  • Experience of pre-contract services from feasibility through to tendering, measurement of building works for estimating, report writing, and preparation of Bills of Quantities and tender documentation.
  • Experience of different procurement methods: single stage, two stage, and design and build (preferred).
  • Experience of post-contract services: interim applications, change management, variation valuation, and extension of time claims.
  • Detailed experience working with standard form contracts (FIDIC preferred) and administration of contract procedures.
  • Demonstrable experience in client-facing roles, with a professional approach and confidence in presenting to clients, other consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience dealing confidently and assuredly with contractors and personnel.
  • Experience in report writing: estimate reports, cost reports, procurement reports, and tender reports.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Estimating and cost planning, including producing and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Production of full Bills of Quantities and tender documentation.
  • Tendering and procurement, managing prequalification, producing tender lists, preparing preambles and preliminaries, tender queries, analysis, reports, and contractual documents.
  • Managing post-contract cost variances and change control processes where applicable.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate cost checks and valuations on larger projects.
  • Producing pre-contract, post-contract, and ad hoc reports for clients.
  • Negotiating with contractors and finalizing accounts.
  • Interfacing with clients, contractors, and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Leading a cost management team when appropriate to ensure delivery of responsibilities.

Qualifications :

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or similar.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in similar roles.
  • Prior UAE experience is essential.
  • Prior consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters such as procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
  • Knowledge of CostX and BIM is preferred.
