Job description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Yu & Mi Restaurant in Dubai, the Bar Back will assist and support the Bartenders to ensure the bar operation runs smoothly and efficiently. This position mainly involves manual handling; therefore, FLHSS is substantially covered. The Bar Back reports to the Bartender.

As a Bar Back, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Assist Bartenders by preparing and stocking the bar with supplies, including glassware, garnishes, and beverages.
• Manage inventory levels, assist with ordering and restocking items, and organise and shelf beverages before opening the bar.
• Ensure the bar area is clean, organised, and well-maintained throughout shifts, and monitor the cleanliness and functionality of bar equipment.
• Support bartenders in preparing drinks, including mixing, garnishing, and serving as directed.
• Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests, provide a high level of service, and assist with special events and promotions as needed.
• Comply with all corporate and hotel policies, standard operating procedures, and the MOHG Code of Conduct, and carry out any additional duties requested by management.

As a Bar Back, we expect from you:

• Hold a High School qualification or equivalent, with at least 2 years of experience working in a 5-star luxury hotel environment.
• Demonstrate the ability to understand guest needs and deliver superior customer service, with strong knowledge in bar operations.
• Possess basic computer skills, including MS Office, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.
• Exhibit exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
• Have physical capabilities to stand for long periods and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.
• Verbal and written communication skills in Arabic or other languages are preferred.
