Job description

The purpose of this position is to provide effective specialist and level 4 & 5 engineering and maintenance services covering the Depot Equipment and On Track Plants for Dubai Metro.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist the Depot Equipment Team Leader in carrying out specialist and level 4 & 5 of preventive and corrective maintenance activities and modifications on depot equipment and on track plants.
• Carry out routine vehicle inspections, inspecting parts for surface defects, changing of consumable items, perform all level of repairs and technical cleaning.
• Perform roles necessary for the management of the safe system of works, including to meet tight maintenance schedules.
• Test functional performance of electromechanical assemblies using various test instruments, replace, install electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, align, fit and assemble component parts, using electronics tools, hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates, and microscopes.
• Operate metalworking machines, repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems, verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications and to meet operational specifications and tolerances.
• Perform time sensitive fault diagnostics and component replacement (repair in site or inside depot) on the depot equipment.
• Follow the appropriate maintenance procedures and instructions, operating rules and procedures to ensure compliance with the required requirements.
• Carry out wheel re-profiling of the depot equipment annually or as required using under-floor wheel lathe.
• Perform train overhaul at defined interval by inspecting and repairing major components and systems.
• Assist the Depot Equipment Team Leader and/ or other technical support staff to implement complex systems or new projects.
• To be assigned and rotated to the First Line Response Technicians team when required.
• Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of depot equipment, tools and plant machinery performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
• Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the Depot Equipment Team Leader and other senior Depot Equipment Maintenance staff.
• Implement and follow safe access process.
• Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
• Ensure compliance with the Keolis-MHI Management System and all relevant business processes, procedures and work instructions to deliver all work with appropriate quality and governance standards.
• Ensure security and integrity of all data provided including reporting performance, finance and customer information; reference Keolis-MHI non-disclosure policy.
• To exercise personal duty of care for their own health, safety and welfare and for those affected by their acts or omissions; reference SMS GSOP-HSE1-6 Keolis-MHI organisational HSE responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance with all training requirements of Keolis-MHI and ensure adherence to these requirements at all times whilst in employment.
• Report any accidents, incidents, breaches or potential breaches to appropriate management or the speak up process.
KEY SKILLS
• Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision.
• Strong mechanical mind, and ability to grasp the complexity of inner workings of rolling stock.
• Ability to use and calibrate various electrical, electronic and mechanical test equipment and PC for the maintenance of depot equipment.
• Ability to write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
• Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.
• Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Hold a valid driving license with good driving skill and experience.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
• 5 years robust working knowledge in maintaining, repairing and overhaul of car body, bogies and suspension, couplers and draft gears, operators control, propulsion system, friction brakes, batteries, auxiliary power supply and electrical equipment, car doors and doors control, ventilation and air-conditioning components, train control and monitoring system for depot equipment is essential.
EXPERIENCE
• 5 years robust working knowledge in maintaining, repairing and overhaul of car body, bogies and suspension, couplers and draft gears, operators control, propulsion system, friction brakes, batteries, auxiliary power supply and electrical equipment, car doors and doors control, ventilation and air-conditioning components, train control and monitoring system for depot equipment is essential.
• Prior experience in shunting and driving engineering vehicles and/or locomotives would be added advantage.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
• Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent.
