Job description

We’re looking for a talented OTR Safety WHS officer to join our team. You’ll be passionate about partnering with the business to ensure WHS risks are managed. This is a brand-new role, and we expect you to drive our Amazon WHS culture with site leaders, embedding policies and processes to ensure compliance with local legislative obligations. Leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement to maintain a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to build trust with the Operations Team and inspire change through risk assessments and safety data analysis.

The OTR Safety WHS officer must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise, and consistent messages both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders on Amazon WHS policies and assist site teams in implementing safety standards. You will identify best practices and incorporate them into our standards to enhance occupational health and safety. You must possess excellent safety program knowledge and demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide WHS support to AMZL-Trans sites and On the Road teams within UAE to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Perform vehicle safety audits, identify non-compliance, and implement solutions to eliminate risks and prevent injuries.
  • Maintain record-keeping practices and safety database entries aligned with global standards and local regulations.
  • Ensure teams are trained on responsibilities under policies, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of training programs.
  • Act as the WHS POC for the WW Safety team & GRS, supporting safety improvement projects.
  • Engage in collaborative health and safety projects across the site.
  • Complete risk assessments related to WHS OTR processes.
  • Provide advice and guidance on health & safety matters to stakeholders.
  • Develop local WHS procedures to meet Amazon Global Standards and ensure compliance.
  • Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively.
  • Guide site teams in road safety procedures and act as OTR SME for site queries.
  • Liaise with partners on incident reporting and tracking.
  • Review reported incidents, ensure corrective actions, and provide gap assessments.
  • Lead OTR safety tech implementation and other initiatives as per roadmap.
  • Travel up to 50% and work flexible shifts.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or science; or a degree plus NEBOSH Diploma.
  • 4+ years of experience in OSH; good communication skills in English.
  • Valid UAE driving license.
  • Previous road safety experience or driving school background.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in road safety or similar domain.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments.
  • Experience analyzing accident data and conducting safety analyses.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Experience in Worker’s Compensation case management.
  • Passion for safety.
