Job description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai within the Noor Lounge Team, the Hostess will take reservations for the outlet and other outlets if required, managing and maintaining the reservation system, including guest preferences. She will welcome and escort visitors to ensure guest satisfaction. She may assist with operational tasks under the guidance of managers.

Responsibilities:
  • Understand the outlet's concept, food, and beverage offerings, including promotions, and communicate these to guests.
  • Maintain professional phone etiquette, accurately record guest details and requests.
  • Handle reservations via phone, email, booking applications, and in person, updating the system accordingly.
  • Reconfirm reservations, coordinate seating arrangements with management, and update the reservation system with accurate table counts.
  • Welcome and escort guests, assisting as needed within the hotel.
  • Ensure menus are current, accurate, clean, and well-distributed.
  • Recommend and upsell beverages, forward orders to service staff.
  • Manage billing and cashiering tasks as per hotel standards.
  • Address guest complaints or comments, escalating unresolved issues to the Outlet Manager.
  • Bid farewell to guests sincerely, thank them for their visit.
  • Maintain cleanliness in public areas, communicate with housekeeping if needed.
  • Ensure uniform and personal grooming standards are upheld.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Outlet Manager, including assisting other outlets.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and superiors, especially regarding seating plans and guest requests.
  • Inform kitchen staff of any special guest preferences, such as allergies.
  • Support team operations, including assisting with service procedures.
  • Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards.
  • Observe guest body language to anticipate needs, creating memorable experiences.
  • Report critical situations immediately, such as intoxicated or aggressive guests.
  • Communicate well in English and other languages if possible, including menu presentation.
  • Maintain a friendly, warm demeanor, handling challenging situations professionally.
  • Create memorable moments to surprise and delight guests.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction from arrival to departure, aligning with MOHG standards.
  • Record and act upon guest preferences, maintaining the database.
Qualifications:
  • High School qualification or equivalent preferred.
  • Degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management preferred.
  • Experience as a Hostess in a high-volume, luxury hotel environment preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Hostess preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills, able to understand guest needs.
  • Ability to work long hours, focus on operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with Table Management Systems and bar service procedures preferred.
  • Effective multitasking and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; additional languages preferred.
