Job description

Position Summary

The Visa Consulting Senior Director will drive the ambitious growth of the VCA Digital service line in terms of product development and thought leadership, especially around key topics like Generative AI, Product Design, Digital Acquisition (including performance enhancement), and E-Commerce Optimization. He or she will also deliver subject matter expertise and consulting support to VISA's key clients across the CEMEA region. The main objective of the role is to deepen client relationships and optimize client performance by helping them design and assess their digital strategies, implement initiatives around their digital channels, and fully capture the potential from customers engaging on digital channels.

Principal Responsibilities and Key Results Area

  1. Collaborate with VCA colleagues, Visa account executives, and other Visa functions to cultivate and manage a pipeline of digital engagement opportunities with the largest CEMEA banks and merchants.
  2. Lead or serve as a subject matter expert on consulting engagements in areas such as Strategy, Digital Strategy, Digital Acquisition (including performance enhancement), Digital Spending, full potential, Digital Experience Design and Optimization (PXD), and Generative AI. This includes:
    • Using VISA and external data to analyze client needs across focus markets and identify opportunities for consulting assignments with VISA's key clients.
    • Supporting and contributing to sales pitches.
    • Leading or contributing to internal problem-solving sessions.
    • Preparing for and participating in client discussions.
  3. Work closely with other VISA groups, including Marketing Services, Issuing Solutions, Commercial, and Money Movement, to ensure a seamless consulting experience.
  4. Lead the development of the Digital Service to create an end-to-end shop supporting Issuers and Merchants, from strategy to implementation. Activities include:
    • Development and codification of new products and set plays.
    • Liaison with VCA Solutions and VAS teams for digital solutions development.
    • Development of thought leadership, including writing papers.
    • Liaison with other VISA global regions to facilitate import/export of solutions and set plays.
    • Support standardization of digital products globally.
    • Contribute to the development of the Digital Service Line plan at the CEMEA level.
  5. Scale the PXD offering in collaboration with other practice areas, leveraging global expertise.
  6. Scale offerings in Generative AI.
  7. Launch and scale services to optimize e-commerce for merchant clients across industries such as airlines, hospitality, and retail.
  8. Collaborate with global practice areas to incorporate best practices, analytical services, and leverage global consulting solutions.
  9. Support talent growth within the practice, including developing internal resources and hiring new talent, potentially managing teams.
  10. Grow and manage a network of external vendors for digital project delivery and new product development.

Qualifications

Key Competencies

A well-qualified candidate will have broad and deep expertise in Digital, focusing on digital strategy and transformation, digital acquisition, customer experience design, digital payments, GenAI, design thinking, and digital channels. Additional key areas include:

  • Understanding business needs of issuers, acquirers, and merchants in Digital, including strategy, acquisition, customer channels, innovation, mobile platforms, and ecosystems.
  • Best practices to meet customer needs across the customer lifecycle and digital engagement channels.
  • Industry trends such as evolving payment economics, increasing digitalization, ecosystem development, analytics, regulatory changes, and open banking.
  • Knowledge of fintech and digital native players, their roles in banking and payments, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Design thinking and agile methodologies supporting banks and other players in transitioning to agile development.

Additional Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of overall work experience.
  • At least 8 years in digital, including customer acquisition, channel development, and optimization, ideally within a top-tier bank or consulting firm.
  • Experience in mobile banking and digital-only banks is a plus.
  • Regional and global experience, including work across multiple CEMEA subregions, is desirable.
  • At least 5 years in management consulting, with a strong record of delivering complex strategy projects and leading end-to-end engagements.
  • Diplomatic skills, ability to interact with senior management, highly analytical, and proficient in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Results-driven, flexible, customer-focused, and able to travel frequently.
  • Self-motivated, with strong teamwork and collaboration skills, and capable of working in multicultural environments.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; fluency in Russian or Arabic is a plus.
