Qualifications

Job description

o Empower the students to reach their fullest potential through 4 main functions :

Provide appropriate assistance to the students to overcome their academic difficulties and personal stressors (family, career, social).

Determine and facilitate the removal of barriers to learning through an interface between the students, instructors and management.

  • Enhance the student's personal development and improve their social skills.
  • Contribute to the application of ATA Rules & policies for the student's welfare.
  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

Job Specific Accountabilities

Student Counselling

  • Evaluate students' overall personal functioning through individual interviews: (family dynamic, educational background, personal stressors, etc).
  • Conduct guidance meetings with students as deemed necessary and as per the request of instructors and / or Section Heads to investigate, point out reasons such as medical, social, performance, or attitude, etc., and recommend to the team leader the proper disciplinary action.
  • Conduct individual counselling to help the student increase his self-understanding and adjustment to achieve his academic and personal goals by building an Individual Development Plan.

Group Sessions

  • Conduct group counselling to help students develop their skills, such as organizational and time management abilities, effective study habits, etc.
  • Arrange periodic and regular lectures at both the ATA main campus and student hostel on various cultural, health, safety, and social subjects to reinforce students' religious, social, cultural, and moral awareness.

Follow Up & Monitoring

  • Monitor individual students' progress and identify concerns affecting their performance, such as poor classroom attendance.
  • Pay special attention to distinguished and talented students, encouraging them with prizes and incentives.
  • Receive SPRs and follow up, taking appropriate actions in liaison with instructors and management. Supervise ATA Student Council activities and help members identify issues and raise them with ATA Management.
  • Participate as a member of the Disciplinary Council and ensure decisions are enforced.

Reporting

  • Prepare weekly, mid-quarterly, and quarterly counsellor reports for the Student Services Department Manager, regarding behavioural, punctuality, and academic situations, along with actions taken and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with instructors/OTC to issue individual student behavioural appreciation.

Communication

Maintain close contact with students' guardians, especially those facing academic, attendance, or attitude issues, and discuss ways to support students.

Foster an environment of mutual trust among students, instructors, and ATA management, ensuring effective communication and professional attitude.

Generic Accountabilities

Supervision

  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate activities in the assigned area to meet objectives.
  • Train and develop staff to enhance proficiency and achieve section goals.
  • Assist in preparing and implementing budgets and work plans.
  • Investigate variances and support performance and cost control.
  • Implement policies, processes, and standards in line with company and international standards.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and regulations.

Performance Management

Contribute to achieving performance objectives aligned with company standards.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Design and implement tools and techniques to improve operational quality and efficiency.
  • Identify process improvements based on industry best practices for greater efficiency.

HSE and Sustainability

Comply with HSE policies, procedures, and legislation, and follow sustainability guidelines according to international standards and ADNOC practices.

Reports

Provide inputs for MIS and progress reports for management.

  • Internal and external communication and working relationships detailed, including collaboration with team members, guardians, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills :

  • Bachelor's in Psychology, Social Science, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in counselling, preferably 2 years in a vocational training centre related to the oil/gas industry.

Professional Certifications and Competencies as per approved standards.

Work Conditions include minimal physical effort, office environment, with possible afternoon shifts, and onsite or hostel work as applicable.
