Job description

As a Business Support Officer, you will provide comprehensive system services and support to business units by ensuring that business needs are reflected fully into the supporting systems either through development or exploitation. The individual should be able to identify and understand business needs and objectives, suggest practical functional solutions, and evaluate conflicting requirements. This includes being the centre of excellence to ensure that systems support business initiatives, either through business data management or defining the functional change requirements in projects and/or enhancements, ensuring such changes are business tested, communicated, and trained to the business users.

In this role, you will:
  1. Assist the end-user community in using and utilising the systems efficiently and use operational and applications expertise to recommend initiatives to improve the overall user experience.
  2. Collate and document user requirement specifications for information systems in liaison with IT & support departments.
  3. Prepare test plans for user acceptance testing, perform the testing, report deviations through proper documentation, and ensure the system is delivered according to specifications. Conduct post-implementation health checks.
  4. Prepare training plans for system releases and establish procedures for ongoing user training requirements.
  5. Conduct system administration tasks, maintain reference data, manage user access control, monitor system performance, and initiate corrective measures if required.
  6. Provide 1st level technical support for business operating systems, advise on functionality, handle end-user complaints, and follow up with IT support to ensure resolution.
  7. Support end-user community on functional clarifications, provide workarounds, and participate in support for new enhancements and projects.
  8. Provide ad hoc and planned internal training/support during deployment of new applications or enhancements.
  9. Produce reports using available tools to support operational statistics and performance monitoring.
  10. Execute user acceptance testing based on test scripts, document results, and archive for reporting and future reference.
