AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Masterplan Design Director to join our project management team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Reporting directly to the Projects Programme Director, this role is pivotal in shaping large-scale developments, aligning design, functionality, and business objectives. The Director will manage the Masterplan Team, ensuring all masterplans adhere to the client's vision and regulatory standards within a PMC framework, coordinating with stakeholders to deliver sustainable urban planning solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Planning: Define the overarching design vision, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulations.
  2. Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, urban planners, authorities, landowners, and clients to integrate diverse perspectives.
  3. Design Oversight: Manage conceptualization, refinement, and review of design frameworks for aesthetic, functional, and sustainable outcomes.
  4. Project Integration: Ensure design feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  5. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to local and international laws, environmental regulations, and urban policies.
  6. Innovation & Sustainability: Implement cutting-edge, sustainable urban planning practices, including smart city concepts.
  7. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, assign tasks, and oversee team performance and development.
  8. Project Monitoring: Track progress, resolve technical issues, and report on project status, risks, and compliance.
  9. Technical & Creative Input: Provide expertise and direction on master planning projects, review proposals, and ensure quality standards.
  10. Industry Trends: Stay updated on urban planning innovations and incorporate best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in urban planning, architecture, civil engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in PMC/PMO/IDC roles within project management or engineering consultancy.
  • 15-20+ years in urban planning and master planning, managing large projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., BIM, AutoCAD, GIS, Adobe Suite, AI analytics).
  • Deep knowledge of planning regulations and standards.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
