Job description

Role : Head of Unsecured Policy

Location : Abu Dhabi

Role Purpose:

Core Product: Responsible for managing credit portfolios and policies of unsecured products including Personal Finance, Cards & Al Yusr. These products have a combined exposure of 34 Bn across 500k+ customers, with monthly bookings close to 2Bn.

Ensure product and credit parameters are continually refined in line with macro-economic conditions, portfolio loss rates, and profitability. Oversee the entire credit cycle from program initiation to collections.

Digitization: Collaborate with Business, Digital, and ITD Teams to develop and implement digital journeys for unsecured retail products to meet digitization goals.

Additional Tasks: Manage and guide Finnone resources within the Credit team responsible for the Rule Engine for unsecured products.

Key Accountabilities:

Personal Finance, Credit Cards, and Al Yusr Products:

  • Design, review, and update credit policies within the Group Risk Framework.
  • Align policies with regulatory guidelines, risk appetite, and market best practices.

Credit Management & Portfolio Oversight:

  • Monitor portfolio performance and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Use analytics to identify trends, adjust policies, and maintain portfolio quality.
  • Monitor portfolio caps and performance triggers; take remedial actions as needed.
  • Conduct management reviews to foster discipline and analytics culture.
  • Ensure credit delegations are in place and reviewed annually.
  • Regularly review and refine credit scoring models.
  • Manage audits related to unsecured products and ensure satisfactory ratings.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with collections, recovery, product, risk, credit operations, Shariah, and digital teams.
  • Liaise with regulators and auditors to ensure compliance.

Technology & Automation:

  • Work with digital, business, and ITD teams on digital journeys.
  • Manage development and modification of digital credit policies.

Finnone Rule Engine:

  • Oversee change requests and prioritize rollouts.
  • Manage resources handling the Rule Engine.
  • Automate credit policies and strengthen controls.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead a team of credit policy analysts.
  • Promote a risk-aware culture and continuous improvement.
  • Set objectives and provide performance feedback.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Expertise in retail banking credit management practices.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and people management skills.
  • Understanding of regulatory environment and local market dynamics.
