A leading company in the freight forwarding industry is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth initiatives. The role involves developing business strategies, building client relationships, and achieving sales targets while ensuring high customer service standards.
Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing and executing strategic growth initiatives within the freight forwarding industry. Sourcing and developing relationships with carriers, soliciting new business, proposing, negotiating while building relationships with customers to secure freight opportunities. Negotiating rates and monitoring the movement of your scheduled freight to ensure we provide the highest level of customer service possible. The BDM would be a strategic result oriented leader with an in-depth understanding of market dynamics, client needs & ability to maintain client relations. As the BDM, you will be responsible for identifying customers that align with the target opportunity profile, create solutions, expand market share, all with a focus on driving revenue generation & growth.
Main Responsibilities:
Strategical
Develop and implement strategic business plans to drive growth in line with the Company's objectives.
Formulate and communicate BD performance objectives and continuously monitor progress and alignment towards strategic objectives
Operations
Promote and sell a broad range of logistics services, including Ocean Freighting (Export, Import, and X-Trade Sales for both FCL & LCL), Air Freighting (Export, Import, and X-Trade Sales), Warehousing (Crating/Lashing, Exhibition), Customs Clearance & Transportation (Export and Import for Ocean and Air shipments), and Break Bulk/ODC shipments.
Actively generate new business leads and onboard new customers to achieve both revenue and volume targets.
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with new and existing customers, partners & industry influencers.
Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify new business opportunities and areas for expansion.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Monitor and control credit for existing and future customers to minimize risk and ensure smooth financial operations.
Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals and contracts
Maintain a high awareness of market conditions and competitors capability in order to differentiate the AKM Shipping offering
Meet or exceed sales targets on a consistent basis, prepare and present regular reports on BD activities and outcomes for the Sales Manager.
Demonstrate adaptability and openness to change along with a high standard of ethics and integrity
What you will need to qualify for this role:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field.
3 - 5 years experience in a Business Development role within the Freight Forwarding industry
Strong knowledge of logistics services, including ocean & air freight, warehousing, customs clearance, and break bulk/ODC shipments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
