Role Summary

AstraZeneca is expanding in rare diseases following the acquisition of Alexion in 2021. With over 7,000 known rare diseases and less than 1% having an approved treatment, we aim to establish ourselves as a leader in this high-growth area. We seek a Rare Diseases Sr Product Specialist to join our Gulf (Kuwait) Commercial Team. This full-time role involves generating clinical demand, identifying business opportunities, developing relationships with opinion leaders, and serving as an expert in the therapeutic area.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Engage healthcare professionals (HCPs) in dialogue to promote knowledge about rare disease medicines, including benefits, efficacy, safety, and treatment protocols, using appropriate tools and channels.
  2. Achieve or exceed sales objectives, with accurate tracking and reporting of activities.
  3. Demonstrate strong clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge in relevant disease states and product mechanisms.
  4. Improve patient identification and diagnosis, and develop market strategies within the territory.
  5. Increase disease awareness, identify high-risk patients, and establish a network of key opinion leaders (KOLs).
  6. Develop relationships with KOLs, HCPs, and other stakeholders through collaboration and advocacy.
  7. Organize educational events and workshops.
  8. Work with the Sales Manager and Franchise Manager to develop and implement strategic plans.
  9. Manage allocated budget responsibly.
  10. Share insights to enhance brand positioning and promotional efforts.
  11. Ensure products are used in line with guidelines and licenses.
  12. Maintain high standards of ethics, compliance, and integrity.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Internal:

  • Complete 12 months in current role as per TAq policy.
  • University degree, preferably in Medical Sciences or Pharmacy.
  • At least 2 years of experience in pharma, ideally in hematology/oncology, nephrology, rare diseases, or critical care.
  • Proven sales track record.
  • Strong influencing skills with healthcare professionals.

External:

  • University degree, preferably in Medical Sciences or Pharmacy.
  • Minimum 2 years hospital experience, preferably in niche markets or orphan drugs.
  • Experience in Kuwait's institutional sector is mandatory; experience in Qatar is a plus.
  • Experience in project management, science, and commitment to making a positive impact.
  • Proactive, analytical, collaborative, and high ethical standards.
