JOB PURPOSE
Provide engineering support and technical expertise to Operating Plants & Pipeline, Major Projects, and Technical projects related to piping discipline through all phases of projects. Ensure the reliability, availability, and maintainability of Piping systems.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Engineering & Technical Support
- Provide technical support/services in Piping Engineering to Sites and Projects Group through RTS (Request for Technical Services).
- Develop and write the Statement of Requirements (SOR) for new projects, coordinating with operators/sponsors. Develop and elaborate the Scope of Work (SOW) for consultants.
- Design in-house engineered works, including drawings, specifications/data sheets, and bills of quantities, ensuring the application of state-of-the-art technology in piping materials and systems.
- Review/prepare piping design basis, plot plans, layouts, isometric drawings, and conduct stress analysis and material selection to ensure sound design and integrity.
- Participate in HAZOP studies, ensuring cost-effective solutions and value-added engineering throughout projects.
- Support project management activities across all project phases, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, and Handover.
- Assess design deviations/concession requests (DCA) critical to HSE, integrity, and production, along with Contractor Trend Notices (CTN).
Technical Studies
- Perform or manage technical studies, providing reports with recommendations aligned with RTS scope.
- Review and approve drawings, specifications, data sheets, and technical documents related to piping engineering.
- Ensure designs by consultants/contractors meet scope, safety, reliability, operability, and maintainability standards.
Design General Specifications
- Update and develop company's DGS to incorporate lessons learned, current practices, latest technology, and standards.
- Develop and issue company DGS, standards, procedures, and guidelines for piping engineering for internal use and contractors.
- Maintain and implement these standards across all project phases in line with ADNOC guidelines and industry best practices.
Root Cause Analysis
- Participate in RCA related to piping failures, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions.
- Eliminate or mitigate repetitive piping system failures, ensuring safety and operational integrity.
Pre-qualification of Suppliers, Manufacturers & Consultants
- Participate in reviewing and endorsing suppliers, vendors, manufacturers, and consultants for piping.
- Ensure qualification and competence of suppliers and service providers.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
- At least 8 years of piping engineering experience in large engineering companies, preferably in Oil and Gas.
- Strong knowledge of engineering support for pipeline operations and projects.
- Expertise in piping design, material selection, and compliance with industry codes.
- Familiarity with international design codes, standards, procurement, construction, and maintenance of piping systems in Oil & Gas.
- Knowledge of Pipeline Stress Analysis and experience with software like CEASER, Auto Pipe.
- Understanding of contractor/manufacturer capabilities, negotiations, HAZOP, and risk management.
- Skills in planning, organizing, scheduling, checking, and documentation.
