Vibration Engineer Job Description

The vibration engineer is responsible for producing basic vibration engineering deliverables such as philosophies, reports, specifications, data sheets, and others. They perform conventional engineering tasks aligned with vibration discipline practices, procedures, and programs. The role involves solving problems with standard methods, data collection for vibration studies, completing piping vibration screening assessments based on Energy Institute guidelines, supporting field measurement campaigns, and representing the vibration, dynamics, and noise discipline on contracts or projects. The engineer supports vibration studies during various project phases and promotes innovation and new practices to improve performance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide discipline expertise in vibration engineering.
  • Produce deliverables including philosophies, reports, specifications, and data sheets.
  • Perform conventional engineering tasks per discipline practices and procedures.
  • Apply standard problem-solving techniques with minor innovations.
  • Gather data from multiple sources for vibration studies.
  • Complete piping vibration screening assessments based on EI guidelines.
  • Support field measurement campaigns for troubleshooting piping concerns.
  • Represent the vibration, dynamics, and noise discipline on contracts and projects.
  • Support vibration studies across project phases: FEED, EPC, and operational.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Willingness to work on-site, including 12-hour shifts up to 21 days offshore or onshore globally.
  • Ability to present project results and competencies to clients.
  • Commitment to developing technical services, procedures, tools, and resources.
  • Leadership skills for small teams, including motivation, communication, and technical delivery.
  • Understand roles of senior colleagues for short-term coverage.
  • Engage in business growth through client relationships and scope expansion.

Qualifications
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry, onshore and offshore.
  • Technical expertise in machinery, static equipment, and structures vibration.
  • Proficiency in vibration measurements and equipment.
  • Knowledge of excitation sources and data collection support.
  • Familiarity with Energy Institute Guidelines for excitation mechanisms.
  • Experience with vibration simulation packages (e.g., ANSYS) and other simulation tools (e.g., CFD, acoustic analysis).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Level 6) or Master's (Level 7), or equivalent industry experience.
  • Chartership or professional engineer status is preferred.
  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) record demonstrating technical growth.
