Job Description

The Position

The Spa Director is responsible for the establishment and execution of clear short-term and long-term goals to ensure the spa is recognized as one of the finest resort spas in the world. These goals must ensure colleague satisfaction, guest satisfaction, financial success, health and safety, and environmental stewardship. The Spa Director oversees daily spa operations, ensuring productivity and expense controls are followed, while maximizing revenue opportunities in line with Raffles Spas' positioning.

Set within a serene 3,000 sqm wellbeing sanctuary, the Spa at Raffles The Palm Dubai offers complete rejuvenation of mind and body. Featuring one of the largest indoor pools on the Palm, a sumptuous hammam, and a unique ozone-controlled air environment, the spa provides an exceptional retreat dedicated to luxury, healing, and holistic care.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Direct operations of the facility, including strategic planning for cost-effective and efficient spa operation
  2. Ensure the establishment and execution of departmental goals
  3. Manage, train, and motivate all colleagues in the Spa
  4. Serve as a liaison between the hotel and the spa industry
  5. Meet with group meeting planners to showcase spa facilities and programs
  6. Promote and sell customized spa programs to conference groups
  7. Provide professional information to potential spa guests via phone and in person
  8. Promote hotel and spa packages and promotions
  9. Lead implementation of a 12-month marketing plan
  10. Identify new business and marketing opportunities
  11. Assist in executing a 12-month public relations program, including events and media
  12. Collaborate with hotel public relations for spa/hotel promotion
  13. Act as a spokesperson for the Spa and the Brand
  14. Coordinate with corporate advertising, promotion, and public relations
  15. Work with hotel and regional sales and marketing teams
  16. Maintain knowledge of competitors' offerings, pricing, and sales techniques
  17. Oversee staff training in spa operations, guest relations, and retail sales
  18. Supervise spa departments' operations and coverage

Administrative Duties

  1. Build and maintain relationships with vendors and manage product inventories
  2. Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures
  3. Submit monthly reports and treatment audits to senior management
  4. Maintain departmental policies and controls
  5. Assist in recruiting, developing, and training department staff
  6. Follow the Standard Operating Procedures Manual
  7. Conduct effective departmental meetings and communications

Health and Safety

  1. Follow safety procedures and lead by example
  2. Ensure safety practices are followed across all departments
  3. Develop and adhere to departmental emergency procedures
  4. Ensure staff understand and comply with safety policies
  5. Manage fiscal budgets, including annual budget development and expenditure review
  6. Approve payroll, service charges, and gratuity reports
  7. Review daily productivity and service scheduling
  8. Review and approve purchase requisitions
  9. Report variances and generate monthly productivity reports
  10. Monitor performance against budget and oversee budget preparation
  11. Review expenditures and invoices for compliance
  12. Manage remuneration and control costs of goods, services, and labor

Colleague Relations

  1. Maintain positive internal relationships and with other hotel departments
  2. Conduct performance management and development discussions
  3. Attend and lead management meetings
  4. Perform performance reviews and develop staffing plans
  5. Set and review goals with team members regularly
  6. Attend departmental meetings and supervise staff training
  7. Ensure staff adherence to spa standards and conduct performance appraisals

Guest Service

  1. Maintain the spa in peak condition, ensuring cleanliness and operational excellence
  2. Prioritize guest satisfaction by maintaining safety and service quality

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years’ management experience in a spa or related field
  • Experience in hospitality industry (preferred)
  • Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences
