About the Role:
The Butcher Associate will be responsible for preparing and cutting meat products according to established standards, ensuring quality, freshness, and customer satisfaction. The job holder should have expertise in meat cutting techniques, knowledge of various cuts, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cut, trim, and prepare various types of meat according to customer specifications and portion control standards.
- Ensure quality, consistency, and accuracy in all meat preparations.
- Display meat products in an attractive and organized manner to enhance visual appeal and customer interest.
- Monitor and rotate stock regularly to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Inspect meat for quality, freshness, correct labeling, and remove any expired or spoiled products per company procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting with product selection, offering cooking advice, and fulfilling special orders.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the butchery area to meet sanitation and food safety standards.
- Follow safety protocols when handling knives, cutting tools, and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or overstock to management for efficient stock control.
Required skills & Qualifications:
- Prior 2 - 3 years of experience in a butchery production setting, with direct butchery experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of various meat cuts, preparation techniques, and portion control.
- Skilled in the safe and efficient use of knives, saws, and other cutting equipment.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
- Attention to detail for accurate labeling, quality checks, and product presentation.
- Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
