Role Overview
The PMIS Risk and Controls Specialist plays a pivotal role in optimizing project management systems, mitigating risks, and strengthening internal controls to enhance project efficiency and compliance. This role requires deep expertise in PMIS software, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance to support large-scale projects in the UAE.
Key Accountabilities
Managerial Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce internal controls to ensure project integrity, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Conduct regular audits and process reviews identifying and addressing gaps or inefficiencies in financial and operational controls.
- Implement corrective actions to strengthen compliance with policies and industry standards.
- Support regulatory and internal audits ensuring all findings are promptly resolved.
- Monitor project financials and performance ensuring adherence to established controls and continuous improvement.
Functional Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework including risk registers, impact assessments, and mitigation plans.
- Continuously monitor and analyze emerging risks providing proactive recommendations to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with UAE regulations and industry best practices regularly updating risk policies and procedures.
- Track and report risk trends offering timely insights to key stakeholders for informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with project teams to embed risk mitigation strategies and enhance overall project resilience.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification preferred (ISO 31000, PMIRMP, PMP, PRINCE2).
- 7 years of experience in project management, risk management, or internal controls preferably in the UAE/GCC.
- Expertise in PMIS tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, Procore).
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, compliance regulations, and control measures.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and drive informed decision-making.
- Fluency in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus).
Licenses and Certifications
Preferred:
- Project Management Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2.
- Risk Management Certifications: PMIRMP (Risk Management Professional) or ISO 31000 Certification.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: CRMA (Certification in Risk Management Assurance) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).
- PMIS Tools Proficiency: Certification in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other relevant PM software.
