Job description

The Khalil Research Group at NYU Abu Dhabi employs a cross-disciplinary approach that integrates chemistry, reaction engineering, and manufacturing principles to develop advanced materials for environmental remediation. Our research focuses on controlling material structures from the nanoscale to the microscale, enabling the creation of innovative technologies that leverage these complex architectures for sustainable water treatment solutions.

Position: Research Associate

The Research Associate will work on a project focused on developing covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for water treatment applications. The role involves:

  1. Synthesis and characterization of materials using advanced techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction, electron spectroscopy, and porosity analysis.
  2. Evaluating the performance of these materials in water applications.
  3. Preparing manuscripts and reviewing articles.

The researcher will have the opportunity to work on individualized projects under the guidance of Dr. Safiya Khalil, ensuring a well-rounded research experience throughout the tenure.

Qualifications

Required Education, Certifications, Licensing, or Training:

  • BSc / MSc in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or a related field.

Preferred Education, Certifications, Licensing, or Training:

  • Research experience related to materials science.

Required Work and Related Experience:

  • Experimental research experience in porous framework materials, including synthesis and characterization of porous MOFs/COFs.
