Job Summary
The Technology Officer (TO) is the executive withing the firm that is in charge of overseeing the development and dissemination of technology. Additionally, the TO manages the relationship with different IT vendors. The TO is responsible for safeguarding the company's systems data and records against IT threats. The TO reports directly to the Senior Executive Officer.
Responsibilities
- Outline the company's technological vision, implementing technology strategies, and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the company's business needs
- Key Technology liaison based in Abu Dhabi for the technology team based globally.
- Attract, hire, and manage great talent (whether they are new employees, freelancers or advisers) across multiple crafts, including Software Engineers, DevOps engineers, QA engineers, and potentially further roles
- Create and execute on the product, architecture and engineering roadmap
- Evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and (scalable) infrastructure, that is in line with relevant regulations
- Work with team to define goals for product research and discovery, driving the team to continuous execution
- Ensure that clear and constantly improving delivery and quality assurance processes are in place
- Set, monitor and report both product and engineering goals (OKRs and/or KPIs) to stakeholders
- Communicate product and technology strategy to customers, partners and shareholders
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a technology, IT operations role within an asset management, hedge fund, or financial services environment
- Proficient understanding of regulatory expectations (ADGM or equivalent jurisdictions such as DFSA, MAS, FCA)
- Experience in interacting with regulators and handling regulatory questions
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure), and SaaS tools
- Ability to manage third-party vendors and assess technology risk
- Experience in drafting or maintaining IT policies and procedures
