The WSP is currently seeking to recruit a Manager- Sustainable Development & Healthy Living for our Middle East Earth and Environment advisory team. The applicant must have strong background in consulting and driving Sustainability initiates for master planning/urban planning developments. The successful applicant will operate within a team of environmental and sustainability professionals delivering the highest standards of technical work and aiding the continued success of the team by being an integral part of our client focused delivery of projects.

As a manager specializing in Sustainable urban development, you will be responsible for leading and managing projects related to sustainable development practices, urban planning principles, innovative solutions to environmental challenges and sustainability initiatives. You will work closely with clients to develop and implement sustainable practices within their master plan development.

You will be joining a well-respected, large and dynamic team with a wide range of clients across different markets and sectors including national and local government, industrial, commercial and scientific sectors.

Your new role, what's involved

Successful candidate must have:

  • Lead and manage urban planning projects with a sustainability focus, ensuring alignment with client's strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to develop and implement sustainable urban solutions that address community needs.
  • Conduct assessments and analyses of urban environments to identify opportunities for sustainability enhancements.
  • Provide expert guidance on best practices, policies, and regulations related to sustainability in urban planning.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, presentations, and community engagement activities to promote sustainable practices and gather input.
  • Stay current on emerging trends and innovations in sustainability and urban planning, integrating innovative ideas into project designs.
  • Mentor and manage junior staff and provide training on sustainability and urban planning principles.
  • Develop and implement sustainable business solutions and assist clients in achieving their sustainability goals.
  • Contribute to technical proposals and build relationships with potential clients.
  • Manage commercial scope discussions and monitor financial performance on projects.
  • Lead and manage client meetings, presentations, deliverables, report submissions.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in urban planning is mandatory.
  • More than 10 years of experience in sustainability related consulting in urban planning with experience in international projects
  • Experience in sustainability building and masterplan certifications (knowledge of rating systems such as LEED CC, Mostadam Communities, Estidama Community, CEEUQAL, Envision, SITES, WELL is preferred)
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in sustainability assessment tools and urban planning software.
  • A passion for sustainable development and a commitment to making a positive impact in urban environments.
  • Collaborative mindset and outcome driven working method.
