Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Purchasing officer with extensive experience in garments, textiles, and uniforms to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, sourcing, and supplier management within the textile and garment industry, with established connections to suppliers in India, Bangladesh, and China. This position will require regular travel to these regions and the ability to effectively negotiate and manage relationships with international suppliers. A valid driving license is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing & Procurement:
  • Identify and establish relationships with reliable suppliers of garments, textiles, and uniforms in India, Bangladesh, and China.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers, ensuring quality standards and competitive pricing.
  • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Leverage existing supplier networks in India, Bangladesh, and China to secure favorable terms and ensure product quality.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with suppliers, resolving issues promptly and ensuring consistent supply and compliance with contract terms.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assess performance to maintain high standards of quality and delivery.
  • Inventory & Logistics Management:
  • Oversee the ordering, inventory management, and timely delivery of materials.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse and logistics teams to ensure smooth transportation and delivery processes.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels and avoid supply chain disruptions.
  • Cost Management & Budgeting:
  • Develop and manage purchasing budgets while analyzing costs to ensure the most cost-effective procurement.
  • Identify and implement strategies to reduce costs without compromising on product quality.
  • Prepare detailed reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives for senior management.
  • Market Research & Trend Analysis:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, material innovations, and pricing movements, particularly in key sourcing regions like India, Bangladesh, and China.
  • Advise management on market conditions, trends, and new sourcing opportunities to drive competitive advantage.
  • Compliance & Quality Control:
  • Ensure all purchased materials comply with quality standards, certifications, and company policies.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with international regulations regarding the import and export of garments and textiles.
  • Regular travel to India, Bangladesh, and China for supplier visits, trade shows, and quality checks.
  • Coordinate and manage international logistics for the transportation of goods, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Driving & Delivery Coordination:
  • Travel locally as required using a personal vehicle for meetings, supplier visits, and coordination with delivery partners.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of [2] years of experience in garments, textiles, and uniform procurement.
  • Strong knowledge of the textile and garment manufacturing processes, including material sourcing, quality control, and supplier management.
  • Established connections with suppliers in India, Bangladesh, and China.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage supplier relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple suppliers and projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and procurement software.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Textile Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel locally and internationally.
  • Ability to handle complex international logistics and customs processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in international trade and knowledge of import/export regulations in India, Bangladesh, and China.
  • Familiarity with sustainable sourcing practices and eco-friendly textile procurement.
