Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Staff Nurse is responsible for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. They support professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. The Staff Nurse understands, supports, and promotes the mission, vision, and values of SSMC; provides age-appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body; and adheres to the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assessment and Diagnosis: Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses/issues, including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs. Uses evidence-based assessment techniques, validates findings with the patient, family, and healthcare team, and documents data in compliance with guidelines.
  2. Planning and Outcomes Identification: Identifies expected outcomes and develops a culturally appropriate, individualized plan of care involving patient, family, and healthcare team. Applies evidence-based practices, modifies plans based on ongoing assessment, and documents measurable goals using standardized language.
  3. Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery: Implements the care plan in partnership with the patient and team, performs treatments and procedures per protocols, administers medications, documents all care components, and communicates effectively across care levels.
  4. Health Teaching and Promotion: Uses appropriate teaching strategies, promotes healthy lifestyles and self-management, seeks feedback, and documents health education efforts.
  5. Evaluation: Assesses progress towards outcomes, involves the patient and team in evaluation, revises care plans as needed, and ensures comprehensive handover and documentation.
  6. Evidence-based Practice and Research: Incorporates current evidence and research into practice, participates in research activities, shares findings, and contributes to performance improvement projects.
  7. Leadership: Demonstrates leadership as a role model, coordinates activities, supervises staff and students, participates in organizational decision-making, and promotes a safe, organized work environment.
