Job description

Job Purpose:
The Electrical Superintendent will oversee all electrical construction, maintenance, and commissioning activities for a major ADNOC project in the UAE. The role ensures compliance with ADNOC standards, safety regulations, and project specifications while managing a team of electricians, technicians, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Execution & Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate all electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with ADNOC, international standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IEEE), and project specifications.
  • Review electrical designs, drawings, and method statements for compliance.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance to ensure quality and schedule adherence.
2. Team Leadership
  • Lead and mentor electrical foremen, technicians, and contractors.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and ensure workforce competency.
  • Coordinate with other discipline superintendents (mechanical, instrumentation, etc.) for integrated project execution.
3. Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce strict HSE policies in line with ADNOC COP, OSHA, and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate electrical hazards.
  • Ensure proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), grounding, and arc flash safety protocols.
4. Quality Assurance & Inspection
  • Oversee inspections and testing of electrical systems (cables, transformers, switchgear, motors, etc.).
  • Ensure proper documentation (ITPs, checklists, test reports) for handover.
  • Liaise with QA/QC and third-party inspectors for approvals.
5. Planning & Reporting
  • Support the construction manager in scheduling and progress tracking.
  • Report daily/weekly progress, issues, and risks to project management.
  • Manage material procurement and ensure availability to avoid delays.
6. Troubleshooting & Maintenance
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical faults in LV/MV/HV systems.
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 12+ years in electrical construction/maintenance - in a supervisory role on oil & gas projects (preferably ADNOC or UAE-based).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in HV/LV systems, switchgear, motors, transformers, cabling, and hazardous area classifications (ATEX/IECEx).
  • Certifications: ADNOC approval (preferred), COMPEX, OSHA/NEBOSH, PMP (advantageous).
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
