Dubai, UAE

The Associate Director, Landscape Architect will manage projects and direct the work of the studio landscape architects with a specific emphasis upon design. This position is responsible for co-managing the design studio from a design and business perspective for the successful delivery of landscape projects to high quality standards of design and technicality in accordance with the Client’s expectations. The Associate Director, Landscape Architect will be required to demonstrate an expert understanding of local and international landscape architecture and urban design.

What You'll be doing :

  1. Demonstrate an expert understanding of the aesthetic, technical, resource, and financial aspects of landscape architecture.
  2. Work with the design process from pre-conceptual design through to final design, understanding production techniques, procedures, and standards.
  3. Present to clients at a business development level and also contribute to the design from the project outset.
  4. Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, health and safety requirements, and sustainability regulations.
  5. Develop and mentor a team within the studio.
  6. Collaborate with studio management for daily operations and studio development.
  7. Work with the master planning team to develop landscape design at a master planning level.
  8. Provide design leadership and mentoring to the landscape studio staff.
  9. Manage projects through all design stages, especially early design phases.
  10. Oversee the financial performance of studio projects.
  11. Coordinate with internal disciplines and manage sub-consultants for project delivery.
  12. Assist in preparing technical and financial proposals with the business development team.
  13. Perform other related tasks as required.

What Required Skills You'll Bring :

  1. Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from an accredited university or college.
  2. Minimum 18+ years of continuous experience in landscape architecture; international experience in North America, Europe, Middle East, and Asia is preferred.
  3. Team-oriented and collaborative approach to landscape architecture within the design team.
  4. Expert understanding of the regional construction industry, local construction methods, and their influence on design decisions.
  5. Strong commitment to quality design.
  6. Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Proficiency in key design-related computer programs such as BIM, Adobe Suite, and 3D modeling software.
  9. Professional registration, licensure, or chartership with an internationally recognized professional association.
  10. Fluency in English, both verbal and written; proficiency in other languages, especially Arabic, is highly regarded.
  11. Membership in CMLI, ASLA, or ALIA is desirable.
