Job Purpose

The Event Director is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and management of a leading healthcare event. This role involves overseeing all aspects of event management, from conception to post-event analysis, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for exhibitors, delegates, and attendees. The Event Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive revenues, manage budgets, deliver outstanding content, craft engaging messaging, and lead a talented and dedicated team to deliver an inspiring and memorable event experience that exceeds stakeholder expectations. Through strong leadership and effective communication, the Event Director will act as an ambassador for dmg energy, driving new business, new events, and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive long-term event strategy that aligns with management and stakeholder expectations for growth, positioning, and profitability.
  • Create an event delivery plan with department heads supporting the long-term strategy.
  • Provide management reports tracking progress and highlighting risks.
  • Engage with government supporters and partners to align strategies and implement necessary changes.
  • Analyze industry trends and adapt the event strategy accordingly.

Management

  • Mentor, manage, motivate, and recruit a high-performance team.
  • Align KPIs, compensation, and resources with expectations.
  • Ensure effective communication across departments and with senior management.
  • Coordinate with HR for training, career development, and succession planning.

Stakeholder

  • Build strong relationships with government supporters and partners.
  • Leverage relationships to grow revenues, exhibitor base, and attendance.
  • Manage an Executive Steering Committee and develop industry networks.

Commercial

  • Own the event revenue targets, maximizing opportunities.
  • Develop sales plans supporting the event strategy.
  • Support proposals and manage key accounts for revenue growth.
  • Grow international agent networks.

Marketing

  • Collaborate with marketing to develop engaging collateral and messaging.
  • Ensure campaign effectiveness and media coverage.

Production

  • Work with production to develop content and ensure timely delivery.
  • Support onsite experience for speakers and delegates.

Operations

  • Coordinate with operations for features, signage, and logistics.
  • Manage relationships with venues and suppliers.

Finance

  • Manage the event P&L and budget adherence.
  • Coordinate with finance for revenue collection and reporting.

Experience & Competencies

  • Senior leadership experience in international events, preferably healthcare.
  • Track record in launching and growing international events.
  • Understanding of healthcare sector issues.
  • Customer relationship and partnership development skills.
  • Knowledge of P&L management and financial reporting.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and project management skills.
