We are looking to appoint Health & Safety Officer who will ensure the school maintains a high level of compliance with QHSE requirements by adopting best practices from regulatory protocols and management systems implemented.
Contribute significantly to achieving the school's vision, mission, ethos, and business objectives through the development and implementation of QHSE strategies, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and implement QHSE procedures for the school.
- Review school reopening protocols and implement QHSE best practices.
- Report QHSE performance to top management and conduct internal inspections.
- Review incident and accident reports and provide reports for management decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in collaboration with top management.
- Review staff welfare programs and report outcomes.
- Investigate illnesses and determine root causes.
- Conduct consultations and participation programs with parents.
- Perform inspections to ensure safe work practices.
- Conduct QHSE toolbox talks based on the QHSE plan.
- Conduct audits and training on QHSE aspects involving interested parties.
- Define QHSE plans, procedures, and performance indicators; report to management.
- Conduct QHSE walk-arounds and report non-conformances.
- Review QHSE dashboards and recommend improvements.
- Communicate changes and review risk assessments regularly with QHSE professionals and site engineers.
- Update management programs based on planned changes and initiatives, communicating with stakeholders.
- Plan and participate in emergency response drills and update action plans.
- Review QHSE complaints and concerns; lead consultation programs with workers and management.
- Develop standard operating procedures and emergency response protocols.
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers during upgrade and expansion projects.
- Oversee HSE and compliance requirements across departments like Transport, Catering, Facilities Management, and Clinic.
- Review subcontractor compliance before issuing permits.
- Update legal registers and ensure SOPs reflect legal changes.
- Provide innovative ideas for school improvement via the ideas portal.
- Implement flagged HSE ideas and monitor their effectiveness.
- Review pupil health records and report on rehabilitation needs.
- Ensure workplace adjustments and requirements are met.
- Develop HSE protocols aligning with KHDA requirements.
- Report HSE statistics and dashboards to Principal and SLT.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within a professional school environment.
- Knowledge of general QHSE procedures, policies, and methods.
- Experience in multicultural environments is advantageous.
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant software systems.
- Strong verbal and written English skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and solid communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure during peak times.
