Job Overview
The Operations Manager position demands a comprehensive understanding of welding principles, leadership in workforce management, recruitment and assessment, and familiarity with a broad range of disciplines including compliance, risk management, and logistics. The Operations Manager must leverage extensive industry experience to enhance productivity, mentor others, influence company-wide processes and policies for workforce management, and resolve multifaceted technical, operational, and organizational issues that affect project delivery and success.
Responsibilities, Key Tasks, and Responsibilities
- Play a leadership role in developing the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed.
- Recruit, train, assess, and manage a team of welding personnel for deployment on onshore and offshore pipeline and construction projects globally.
- Create, manage, and publish rotational plans for all work sites, ensuring personnel with the correct experience and skills are deployed and rotated out as required.
- Establish and maintain stringent quality control standards for welding operations and personnel.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality; suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist supervisors and foremen in solving work issues.
- Approve personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary measures.
- Adopt and ensure implementation of company health, safety, and environment programs.
- Ensure adherence to company objectives, policies, programs, and procedures.
- Use reports to manage project scope and ensure successful project delivery.
- Emphasize a safety culture throughout the project, ensuring safety plans are executed meticulously.
- Manage project controls and costs daily, taking appropriate actions for consistent deliverables and success.
- Demonstrate business acumen within the area of responsibility.
- Complete daily reporting requirements accurately and timely.
- Conduct risk management analysis daily, working with project leaders for mitigation and documentation.
- Oversee manpower, equipment, material, and subcontractor activities to align with the project schedule.
- Oversee welder training, assessment, testing, and handover to completions.
- Ensure material management plans and change control processes are followed.
- Support development of detailed schedules, ensuring activities are sequenced, changes are managed, and communication is maintained.
- Ensure quality management plans are followed, verifying work meets or exceeds expectations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant welding codes and standards.
Qualifications
Essential:
- 10 years of construction experience with at least 7 years in supervisory roles and 2 years in management or leadership positions.
- Previous welding supervision experience, preferably with automatic pipeline production.
- Experience in onsite and offshore pipeline construction and offshore marine construction.
- Familiarity with company scheduling programs and extensive experience in project and production reporting and management.
- Manpower planning experience.
- Industrial construction background.
- Strong focus on safety, budget, and schedule adherence.
- Planning, organizing, and quality work standards.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency industry standards.
- High integrity, professionalism, and work ethic.
