About the job

Purpose of the Job:

To oversee and supervise the daily operations of the agricultural machinery workshop, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery. The Workshop Supervisor will manage a team of technicians and ensure the smooth operation of all mechanical activities related to agricultural machinery, while maintaining safety, quality standards, and timely delivery.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Workshop Supervision: Supervise day-to-day activities in the workshop, ensuring proper workflow, adherence to schedules, and quality standards in the servicing and maintenance of agricultural machinery.
  • Team Management: Lead, train, and motivate a team of technicians to ensure productivity, accuracy, and safety within the workshop.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Oversee the repair, maintenance, and servicing of agricultural machinery and equipment, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all tasks are carried out in compliance with company quality control standards and safety regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials required for repairs and maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide technical support for complex mechanical issues and assist technicians in troubleshooting and resolving machinery problems.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular reports on workshop operations, including status of work orders, parts usage, and any issues that require managerial attention.
  • Schedule Coordination: Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure efficient use of workshop resources.
  • Customer Interaction: Liaise with internal teams and customers regarding machine issues, progress, and any delays.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce and ensure adherence to workshop safety protocols and company health and safety regulations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving workshop operations, processes, and safety practices to enhance overall efficiency.
  • Support: Provide guidance and technical advice to the workshop team to help resolve challenges and improve performance.

Qualifications & Education:

  • Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
  • Additional certifications in machinery or workshop management will be an advantage.

Experience:

  • 5–7 years of experience in agricultural machinery workshop operations, with a focus on maintenance, repair, and supervision.
  • Proven experience managing a team of technicians in a workshop setting.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Excellent team management skills, with the ability to lead, coach, and develop team members.
  • Strong reporting skills, with the ability to track progress and communicate workshop performance to upper management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with a solid understanding of basic computer applications for reporting and scheduling.
  • Familiarity with workshop management software (if applicable) is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
