Job description

The TETRA Engineer will report to the Head of Care Management and Field Support as line manager and to the Project Manager for functional management.

Job Summary :

The TETRA Engineer is responsible for ensuring that inventory, installation, configuration (software and hardware), pre-testing, witness testing, commissioning, integration, and maintenance activities are accurate, planned, and carried out in line with standard processes.

The role evolves from Design, Procurement, Implementation, commissioning to maintenance, adhering to industry and customer standards.

The TETRA Engineer is accountable for Tetra Infrastructure, Terminals, associated peripherals, E1/IP Switches, Routers, Voice Recorders, RF/low voltage test equipment, etc.

Responsibilities :
  1. Perform site surveys, engineering analysis, and planning studies for successful Roll-Out.
  2. Prepare material take-offs, BOQ/BOM, and select equipment/materials.
  3. Review and interpret technical and schematic diagrams, project specifications.
  4. Perform commissioning, configuration, integration, pre-testing, and testing of TETRA Networks.
  5. Identify faults and carry out corrective and planned maintenance.
  6. Conduct preventive maintenance and health checks of TETRA Networks.
  7. Respond to emergency calls, troubleshoot issues, recover services, collect logs.
  8. Perform configuration, programming, presetting, testing, and software upgrades.
  9. Build and update configuration documentation for TETRA Networks.
  10. Report task completion, work progress, problems, incidents, and feedback.
  11. Be agile to meet work requirements, including travel as needed.
  12. Support regional technical and maintenance incidents within MEAI as the single point of contact.
  13. Ensure each customer/network has appropriate CRM access and define KPIs as per SLAs.
  14. Monitor CRM for incident tickets, evaluate impact, troubleshoot, assign support, and follow up until resolution.
  15. Ensure KPIs meet SLAs.
  16. Maintain internal and external communication with Care Managers, Project Managers, Support teams, TSMs, End Users, Customers, and 3rd Party suppliers.
Profile specifications :
  • Graduate of Electronics and Communications Engineering (BSECE).
  • Possess a valid driving license or International Driving License.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Field experience of 5-10 years in modern wireless communications (PMR, TETRA, GSM, LTE).
  • Knowledge of trunk radio system implementation (Infrastructure, Base Stations, Control Rooms, Microwave, Multiplexers, Digital cross-connects).
  • 3 years of field experience in Operation and Maintenance of wireless networks.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP protocols and networks (LAN, WAN, VPN).
  • Technical writing skills for reports and procedures.
  • Experience with Telecom Test Equipment (e.g., TETRA Radio Analyzer, RF measurement tools, Spectrum Analyzer).
Specific knowledge required :
  • Knowledge of different software environments (VMWare, Linux, Jasper, Oracle).
  • TCP/IP Certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).
  • Experience with Airbus Portfolio Equipment (DX200, DXT3, TB3, RCS9500, OM100, NetBoss, NetAct).
