An innovative firm is seeking a Mechanical Site Supervisor to lead the installation and commissioning of mechanical systems in high-rise buildings. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards while managing on-site teams and resolving technical challenges. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical supervision, particularly in high-rise projects, and be proficient in HVAC systems. Join a forward-thinking company where your leadership and technical skills will directly impact the success of groundbreaking construction projects in a dynamic environment.
The Mechanical Site Supervisor oversees the installation, testing, and commissioning
of mechanical systems in high-rise building projects, ensuring compliance with
design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. This role is critical for
managing on-site mechanical teams, coordinating with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical,
Plumbing) disciplines, and resolving technical challenges unique to skyscraper
construction.
Key Responsibilities
1. On-Site Mechanical Supervision
o Supervise installation of HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and
vertical transportation (elevator/escalator mechanical components).
o Ensure adherence to ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA, and local codes (e.g., DCD,
DM in the UAE).
2. Quality Control & Safety
o Conduct daily inspections to verify workmanship, material quality, and
compliance with approved shop drawings.
o Enforce local safety protocols, particularly for high-rise risks (working at
heights, crane operations, confined spaces).
3. Coordination & Problem-Solving
o Liaise with MEP teams, structural engineers, and architects to resolve
clashes (e.g., ductwork vs. structural beams).
o Manage material logistics for vertical transportation (e.g., scheduling
elevator use for equipment delivery).
4. Progress Monitoring
o Track mechanical milestones using project management tools (e.g.,
Primavera, MS Project).
o Report delays, manpower shortages, or scope changes to the Project
Manager.
5. Testing & Commissioning
o Oversee pressure tests, duct leakage tests, and HVAC balancing.
o Verify fire protection systems (sprinklers, smoke control) meet
performance criteria.
6. Documentation
o Maintain daily logs, inspection reports, and as-built drawings.
o Sign off on work permits and method statements.
Qualifications
Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Experience: 5+ years in mechanical supervision, with 3+ years on high-rise
projects(residential/commercial towers).
o Hands-on experience with HVAC Heat Exchangers, pumps, VRF
systems, and plumbing networks.
Certifications:
o Safety certifications.
o HVAC-specific certifications (e.g., NATE,) are a plus.
Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in reading mechanical schematics, CAD, BIM models (Revit,
Navisworks).
o Familiarity with tools like ductulators, pressure gauges, and thermal
imagers.
Key Competencies
Strong leadership to manage subcontractors and technicians.
Knowledge of high-rise challenges (e.g., stack effect mitigation, vertical pipe
routing).
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems under tight deadlines.
Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Arabic in the UAE) are
advantageous.
