Job description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Accounting department in Dubai, the Paymaster is responsible for maintaining the Hotel s payroll system to ensure timely payments of salaries and wages according to the Company s policies & procedures; to ensure absolute confidentiality in regard to all payroll related matters and to be ethically compliant. Paymaster reports to the Chief Accountant.

As a Paymaster, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manage the full payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely calculation and distribution of wages, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Track and verify departmental overtime forms, ensuring proper authorization from department heads and senior management.
  • Coordinate with People & Culture to confirm attendance and leave records are accurately reflected in the HRIS before payroll deadlines.
  • Gather and verify payroll data from official documents such as contracts, leave forms, and personnel action forms.
  • Resolve payroll-related inquiries efficiently and coordinate with relevant departments on changes affecting employee compensation.
  • Support audits by providing accurate payroll records and maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity in payroll documentation.

As a Paymaster, we expect from you:

  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management and/or Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Paymaster in a luxury hotel, plus at least 1 year in other finance functions; UAE experience preferred.
  • Proficient in payroll and accounting systems, with strong expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • High level of accuracy in handling payroll and financial data, with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and issue resolution.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities to handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
