Job description

Valiant is seeking skilled Linguists to provide interpretation, transcription, and translation services to support ongoing and new U.S. operations and mission requirements.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct accurate and consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation of Tagalog into English.
2. Translate various syntax and expressions, including colloquial and slang phrases, from English to Tagalog and vice versa.
3. Work and travel in austere environments.
4. Provide cultural and ethnic insights related to statements, conversations, situations, and documents.
5. Scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents accurately.
6. Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

• Proficiency in Tagalog and English speaking and writing at Level 3/3 of the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR); native proficiency preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of Tagalog culture with previous regional experience; native familiarity preferred.
• Experience interpreting and translating Tagalog into English.
• Ability to understand all speech in standard dialect and vocabulary with minimal paraphrasing or explanation.
• Familiarity with local culture and customs, with the ability to operate within the local community.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Security clearance: Secret or higher.

Additional requirements:

• Possession of the required Personnel Security Clearance (PSC) or eligibility to obtain it.
• Medical and dental examinations to certify fitness for duty, including immunizations as per the area of operation.
• Sufficient unaided hearing ability; testing such as Speech Recognition in Noise Test (SPRINT) may be required.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• No medical restrictions that impede job performance or PPE use.
• Capability to work in extreme environmental conditions.
• Availability to work on irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Adherence to proper lifting procedures and use of PPE.
• Ability to stand, stoop, crawl, and climb as needed, using proper techniques and PPE.
