- Job Purpose
- Ensure the timely, safe, and accurate delivery of products or services to customers, while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
- Coordinate delivery schedules, optimize routes, handle products with care, and resolve any issues that may arise during the delivery process.
- Key Accountabilities (divided based on Balance Scorecard “BSC”)
Financial:
- Propose the yearly budget and ensure adherence to the approved budget and allocations.
- Ensure accurate recording of payments, issue receipts, and submit cash or payment details to the accounts department.
- Suggest or implement cost-saving measures related to delivery operations, such as route planning software or fuel-efficient driving techniques.
Customer/Quality:
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to smoothly facilitate business needs.
- Provide outstanding customer service and always ensure that Sharjah Co-op is positively promoted.
- Ensure that all deliveries comply with company standards and customer requirements.
- Communicate with customers to confirm delivery times, address questions, and resolve issues.
Internal Business Process:
- Plan and coordinate delivery routes to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Ensure proper loading, unloading, and transportation of products.
- Have a thorough understanding of the products or services being delivered.
- Address and resolve delivery challenges, including traffic delays, incorrect orders, or damaged goods.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, including delivery confirmations, time schedules, and customer feedback.
- Track damaged, lost, or returned items, and report any financial impact from these occurrences to the relevant departments.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as logistics, operations, and customer service, to ensure smooth deliveries.
- Follow company and regulatory protocols for the transportation and handling of goods.
- Ensure the delivery vehicle adheres to safety standards and legal regulations (e.g., licensing, inspections)
- Optimize fleet utilization and ensure on-time delivery by identifying the drivers' routes, facilitating loading/unloading, and monitoring transit.
- Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, rules, internal policies, and procedures, identify hazards and areas for improvement, and take corrective actions.
- Responsible for maintaining company health and (food) safety standards, including HACCP, Halal concept, OSHA standards, and promoting safety standards.
- Review and update reports that provide well-informed information, problems/potential problems identified, short- and long-term financial implications, opportunities, results of efforts, risks, and recommendations for corrections.
- Perform any other relevant tasks assigned by the line manager.
Learning & Growth:
- Participate in training sessions focused on key skills such as time management, customer service, safe driving practices, and effective communication.
- Continuously improve knowledge of the products or services being delivered to offer better customer support and handle delivery-related inquiries.
- Engage in hands-on training for any new technology, equipment, or software used in the delivery process (e.g., GPS systems, inventory management software).
- Conduct regular benchmark studies to maintain awareness of competitors' performance and activities and research up-to-date trends, products, and approaches.
