Senior Transport Planner
Job description
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Provide line management and mentorship of junior members of the team ensuring the team’s work is regularly reviewed prior to submission.
- Support preparation of technical and financial bids and engage in business development activity.
- Assume the role of Project Manager on small / Transport Lead on medium-sized projects taking responsibility for the successful delivery.
- Remain point of contact for clients, addressing needs and queries on assigned projects.
- Manage project finances (including invoicing and contract/commercial management), tracking progress and budget on assigned projects ensuring commercial success.
- Provide management and direction of sub-consultants on assigned projects.
- Demonstrate the ability to use initiative to solve the majority of problems that could occur on a project.
- Develop an understanding of Mott MacDonald methodologies and project management principles, and implement on live projects.
- Skills in managing own time and the time of others, setting priorities for others in order to meet deadlines.
- Assist with resource management for the team, ensuring projects are properly resourced and team members are sufficiently occupied.
Candidate specifications:
- Bachelors in Transportation and Civil Engineering; an MSc in Transport Planning or in Civil Engineering would be highly advantageous.
- Membership to a professional institution affiliated to the transport sector.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience with experience working on Abu Dhabi projects.
- Highly competent in Synchro, HCS, and CUBE (STEAM) and/or VISSIM/VISUM.
- A self-starter and the ability to work both alone and in teams resolving complex tasks.
- Experience in making sound judgements on complex and sensitive issues.
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary proposals.
