Job description

Amazon is looking for a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to join the team:

Year after year, as we continue to grow, we need to work smarter to keep all our team members safe, fulfilled, motivated, and empowered. To help us achieve this, we're seeking a driven WHS Officer. With your bias for action, we need you to step in and help drive health and safety across our delivery stations in Abu Dhabi / Dubai.

In this crucial WHS position, you'll report to the Country WHS Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead site risk assessments for current and new activities.
  2. Establish site WHS training matrix.
  3. Lead implementation of site-specific WHS standards and guidelines.
  4. Lead implementation of site WHS objectives and programs.
  5. Promote a safe culture among employees by providing daily WHS content during shift briefings and stand-up meetings.
  6. Perform frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliance equipment and processes. Work with the Operations team to implement solutions to eliminate risks and prevent injuries.
  7. Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits such as GEMBA walks, area audits, vehicle and driver inspections, etc.
  8. Attend to incidents and occupational injury cases on site.
  9. Guide and assist area managers on incident investigations, Gensuite write-ups, and communication of lessons learned.
  10. Assist the Ops team in Gensuite follow-up sheets and CAPA creation. Ensure audit recordkeeping practices align with global WHS standards and local regulations.
  11. Ensure PPE inventory at the site and coordinate with procurement for orders.
  12. Ensure completion of basic firefighting and first aid training.
  13. Complete daily Trailer Dock Release (TDR) inspections and communications.
  14. Monitor Daily Action Tracking System for closeouts and support.
  15. Participate in site management safety walks, providing insights into unsafe acts and conditions.
  16. Provide daily updates to the Country WHS Manager on objectives, incidents, network actions, etc.
  17. Prepare WHS committee meeting agendas and MOM write-ups, ATS creation.
  18. Review and sign off on daily Permit to Work, working with operational and facilities teams.
  19. Lead WHS-related procurement and follow-up on site.
  20. Prepare risk assessments and emergency response plans.
  21. Manage the preparation and completion of emergency drills, medevac drills, and recordkeeping.
  22. Establish and monitor Heat Index levels and support related activities.
  23. Support site-specific requests during unplanned events and activities.
  24. Utilize on-the-road experience and demonstrate proficiency with computers and data analysis.
Qualifications:
  • NEBOSH IGC certification.
  • Experience in the WHS field.
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Valid UAE driving license and own transport.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Driven with a focus on self-development and growth.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, directions, and strategies.
  • Experience analyzing accident data, new processes, machinery for safety concerns, and conducting hazard analyses.
  • Experience in emergency response, holding First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Science.
