Role Overview

The Technical / Design Manager - Geotechnical will lead the geotechnical design team throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to meet project objectives and client expectations. You will support the Programme or Design Director and Senior Project Manager in delivering scope and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the geotechnical design team.
  • Develop and review geotechnical designs, reports, and specifications.
  • Conduct site investigations and analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions.
  • Coordinate with project teams to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project design.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance during construction.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources related to geotechnical activities.
  • Prepare and present technical reports to clients and authorities.
  • Identify and mitigate geotechnical risks.
  • Coordinate environmental assessments related to geotechnical work.
  • Implement innovative geotechnical solutions for project optimization.
  • Monitor geotechnical system performance during and after construction.
  • Train team members to enhance their geotechnical expertise.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide expert advice.
  • Ensure proper documentation of geotechnical data and reports.
  • Stay updated with advancements in geotechnical engineering and incorporate best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • PE license or equivalent.
  • At least 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience, especially in the UAE.
  • Strong knowledge of soil mechanics and foundation engineering.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W).
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with large-scale construction projects is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Experience with advanced testing methods and environmental regulations.
  • Experience managing geotechnical aspects in diverse locations.
  • Research publications or memberships in professional societies like ASCE or ISSMGE.
  • Proficiency in additional geotechnical software and modeling.
  • Strong networking abilities.
Additional Qualifications
  • 10-15 years in design management, preferably on hospitality projects.
  • Bachelor's or master's in architecture.
  • LEED certification is a plus.
  • Regional experience, preferably in Saudi Arabia.
  • Team-oriented and client-facing attitude.
  • Leadership style that fosters collaboration.
