Job description

Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented technology lawyer to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) in selling cloud services to public and private sector customers across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The primary focus is on supporting AWS public sector sales and procurement compliance in MENA.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing, negotiating, and drafting a variety of technology contracts and subcontracts, such as licensing, reseller, and procurement agreements, as well as responding to requests for proposals and tenders. Additionally, you will develop and support internal policies and training programs related to public procurement compliance.

In this role, you will work directly with the AWS MENA Public Sector team, providing day-to-day advice to senior executives and cross-functional teams on government contracting and public policy matters. You will handle queries related to existing relationships, disputes, and inquiries. The ideal candidate is proactive, entrepreneurial, enjoys challenges, possesses strong communication skills, and demonstrates pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations. This position is based in Dubai, UAE, with some regional and international travel expected.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • A J.D., LLB, or equivalent degree and admission to practice law in a recognized jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of legal experience post-bar admission.
  • Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience working in-house at a technology company or in technology private practice.
  • Knowledge of MENA procurement processes, contracting laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Understanding of cloud computing, telecommunications, cybersecurity policies, data privacy laws, and regulations.
  • Experience engaging with policymakers and regulators.
  • Arabic language skills, both spoken and written.
