Senior Manager - Business Development & Tendering

Role Overview : The incumbent will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, supporting tender processes across Africa, conducting market research, managing client relationships, and driving revenue growth, particularly within institutional and government segments.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Identify new business opportunities in domestic and international markets, focusing on institutional and public sectors.
  • Develop region-specific strategies for growing institutional pharma sales.
  • Prepare proposals, quotations, and assist in price discovery.
  • Monitor competitors and strategize market entry and expansion.
  • Coordinate with Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, and Marketing teams for market entry plans.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, distributors, and government agencies.
  • Support sales teams with data and documentation for institutional business.
  • Report on tender performance, pipeline, and public sector opportunities.
  • Manage tender submissions : documentation, pricing, compliance, and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary documents and approvals.
  • Monitor tender outcomes and feedback for improvement.
  • Maintain a database of tenders, results, and pricing trends.

Qualifications & Skills :

  • Bachelor’s in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or related; MBA in Marketing / International Business is a plus.
  • 8-12 years in pharma business development and tender management.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical tendering, government procurement, and institutional sales.
  • Understanding of African healthcare regulatory and procurement frameworks.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and capable of managing tasks independently.
  • Strategic, detail-oriented, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in diverse, cross-cultural teams.
