Responsibilities
Main Duties
  • Develop and deliver library information literacy sessions to ensure students can independently find resources, whether books, magazines, or online, and become effective library users.
  • Select and order new books appropriate for each section/grade level and aligned with students' interests and curriculum needs.
  • Liaise with teachers to ensure topic-related resources are distributed to classrooms as needed.
  • Catalog all resources into the automated library system, Destiny Follett, following the Dewey classification system. Label and cover books accordingly.
  • Maintain the library database, ensuring records of students and teachers are current.
  • Follow up on overdue books, manage lost or damaged books, and coordinate repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain an attractive and functional library environment suitable for reading and independent study.
  • Promote reading through displays, recommend new releases, and foster a love of literature.
  • Arrange author visits and organize book fairs with local bookstores.
  • Manage the Book Club, including ordering, consolidating, and distributing books.
  • Handle signing in/out of books and re-shelving returned items.
  • Collaborate with staff and respond to inquiries related to library services.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and school policies.
  • Assist in developing library policies and procedures.
  • Attend relevant training sessions and undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Library Information Studies or a Diploma in Library Studies/Information.
Minimum Experience
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Librarian.
