Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in regular SOD Management Meetings
  2. Solicit regular project summary reports from REs and monitor accuracy
  3. Co-ordinate contractual input / support to projects with SCM
  4. Co-ordinate QA input / support to projects with SQM
  5. Co-ordinate HSE input / support to projects with SHSEM
  6. Report / liaise regarding specific issues arising. Agree actions. Confirm resolutions
  7. Participate in PSR review meetings; maintain PCR for specific projects
  8. Identify recruitment requirements / participate in interviews etc.
  9. Coordinate and manage disciplinary input / support with SHODs
  10. Use technical background to add more value to project technical team and cover the problems of the design shortfalls
  11. Liaise with project teams to prepare design feedback report, design enhancing comments
  12. Confirm the preparation of the 'Request for Design Office Support' whenever design office support is required
  13. Liaise with REs to prepare a report for the project feedback/lessons learnt
  14. Liaise with the project REs/Discipline engineers to give feedback on the project vendor list (recommend to add, remove or modify)
  15. Confirm distribution of different municipalities' new regulations and requirements

Line Management / Administrative Duties:

  1. Coordinate leave requests/manage cover requirements in conjunction with SHODs
  2. Provide cover for absent REs
  3. Ensure Clients are aware of any absences and cover provisions
  4. Monitor performance of all staff in the area
  5. Input to annual / ad hoc pay reviews, bonuses etc.
  6. Disciplinary management
  7. Agree and monitor attendance hours and rosters; address issues arising
  8. Monitor sick leave absence pattern of staff
  9. Assist in the arrangement of overtime inspections; ensuring no excessive overtime is worked
  10. Review and sign off timesheets on a weekly basis
  11. Liaise with SO office on HR issues arising
  12. Approve and sign staff leave requests and confirm the Client approval on replacement
  13. Confirm no conflict on REs and AREs leave (leave management)
  14. Provide crisis management according to the internal procedure during crises (for example during the death of any staff member)
  15. Staff problem-solving and managing conflicts
  16. Prepare PDR for line management staff, reviews, and talent management
  17. Prepare and manage competency and training of REs and AREs and identify the areas that need development
  18. Monitor the application of Atkins IT Security
  19. Promote charity and social activities

Work To Promote WS Atkins Objectives:

To promote operational excellence by continuing to focus on utilization and margin, together with an increased emphasis on billing and cash collection. To promote portfolio optimization by ensuring that all the subordinate teams are positioned for the future by ongoing review of the businesses in our portfolio, continuing to focus the SOD on higher growth, higher margin activities.

Managing Efficiency:

  1. Effective coordination between projects for optimum utilization of resources and minimize waste
  2. Give ideas to minimize waste in the whole site operation process (time, efficiency resources…)
  3. Promote collaborative working and lean management process within the projects

Managing the Change to set for the future:

To liaise with design interface manager to have monthly meetings with staff to brainstorm how to enhance the work environment for better efficiency and minimizing waste. Identify talents, provide feedback, and coach poor performance, understanding of how people think, make decisions, and behave, helping people improve their thinking and decisions, managing change of all sorts.

Promote and staff training/continuous learning:

To liaise with design interface manager to promote seminars / education / training opportunities. Promote e-learning to all staff. Provide to his capacity regular training for subordinates. Provide and help to prepare technical/management bulletins.
