Job Description

  • Formulate and implement comprehensive HSE policies tailored to construction activities and steel manufacturing operations.
  • Align HSE objectives with organizational goals and project timelines.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with UAE laws, regulations, and international safety standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Stay updated on relevant industry and government legislation and implement necessary changes.

Team Management

  • Supervise the HSE Manager and their team, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure proper allocation of resources for HSE tasks and initiatives.
  • Oversee the identification, analysis, and mitigation of workplace hazards, including those related to heavy machinery, welding, and handling raw materials.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits for both construction sites and manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead investigations into accidents or near-misses, identify root causes and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure that incident reports are accurate, thorough, and submitted in a timely manner.

Construction & Manufacturing Process Monitoring

  • Ensure that all safety measures are implemented during high-risk activities, such as heavy lifting, welding, and steel fabrication.
  • Monitor compliance with project-specific safety plans, permits, and procedures.
  • Develop and oversee emergency response plans and ensure readiness for scenarios like fires, structural collapses, or equipment failures.
  • Conduct regular drills and training to ensure staff preparedness.

HSE Training Programs

  • Implement and monitor ongoing HSE training for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster a safety culture through awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and workshops.

Behavioral Safety

  • Promote behavioral-based safety initiatives to encourage safe practices among workers.

Performance Monitoring

  • Track HSE metrics, such as incident rates, near-misses, and compliance levels.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management and stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate HSE goals and achievements with internal teams and external stakeholders, including contractors and regulatory authorities.
  • Oversee environmental impact assessments and ensure that the steel manufacturing process adheres to sustainability standards.
  • Monitor waste management, emissions, and energy efficiency practices.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum 20-plus proven experience, particularly in industrial construction projects & steel industry, with min. 05 years as head of HSE in UAE region. Proven experience in EHS management, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering, along with NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, and OSHA certifications.
