Job description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Engineering Department, the Electrical Technician will perform a wide range of duties, including the layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic equipment used in the generation and distribution of electrical power within the hotel. The Electrical Technician reports to the Electrical Supervisor.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and emergency systems.
  2. Diagnose and fix electrical faults in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces promptly and efficiently.
  3. Assist with the installation, upgrading, and testing of electrical fixtures, outlets, appliances, and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
  4. Adhere to all local electrical codes, hotel safety standards, and HACCP guidelines, ensuring safe and compliant operations at all times.
  5. Respond swiftly to electrical emergencies and power outages to minimize disruption to guests and hotel operations.
  6. Collaborate with other engineering team members, maintain detailed records of work performed, and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Proven experience as an Electrical Technician or several years as a journey-level electrician, including repair of electrical systems and equipment.
  2. Experience in electrical maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment, plant equipment, or other related commercial equipment is highly desirable.
  3. High school diploma or GED; an associate's degree with specialized training in electrical trades is preferred.
  4. Ability to work effectively alone or as part of a team.
  5. Ability to work in wastewater treatment plant environments, with exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, oils, toxic chemicals, and inclement weather; capable of working in confined spaces and with water.
